Falls are a major cause of harm to the elderly and may lead to injury or hospitalization and affect their quality of life.
Falling can result in loss of confidence, increased anxiety, a reduced sense of independence and, in some cases, serious injury.
A number of studies have demonstrated that it is possible to prevent multiple falls. Exercises that focus on strength and balance have been shown to reduce fall rates.
Physiotherapists and occupational therapists play an important role in the prevention of falls in older patients.
Care Bridge Home therapists are capable of conducting comprehensive assessments to examine intrinsic risk factors. (e.g., balance, strength, cognition, vision) and extrinsic (footwear, walking aids, environmental hazards) for each person, and provide proper support services.
